The alliance will strengthen the development of low-cost green hydrogen production
EDWARDS, COLORADO — The Hydrogen ConneXion, a project of the French government’s Business France agency, announced acceptance of MemPro USA Ltd. to its membership.
Launched in 2021 by Business France North America, it is a business club that fosters business collaborations between France and North America and sparks conversations and global collaborations between leaders of the clean hydrogen industry. As hydrogen is becoming increasingly present in most industries, they aim to provide more information to key players of the industry as well as connect them to relevant contacts to structure and develop this promising industry.
“In the US we are thrilled to welcome MemPro, a startup that is developing nanofiber processing allowing electrolyzers (PEM) to reduce their iridium dependence by 95 percent,” according to the Hydrogen ConneXion February newsletter.
“This partnership affords us the opportunity to expedite commercialization of our breakthrough platform that can significantly reduce use of critical metals in the production of green hydrogen,” said John Finley, CEO of MemPro. “We are confident that working with the Hydrogen ConneXion team will yield strong benefits to the green hydrogen industry. We are delighted to collaborate with their network of experts to lower the cost of green hydrogen and improve its technology,” he said.
MemPro has developed patented processes to greatly increase the surface area of membrane materials and reduce use of costly catalysts. By our methods, a small amount of a catalyst can have enormous catalytic surface area. A low loading of our catalysts can catalyze a chemical reaction that typically needs tens or hundreds of times of other expensive catalysts, thus significantly reducing the cost.
Today our technology applies to greenhouse gas reduction, electrocatalysis for fuel cells and electrolyzers and heterogeneous catalysis in chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing. In the future, we will expand into emerging applications for novel catalytic materials.
