Polycaprolactone is a biodegradable polyester with a chemical formula of (C6H10O2)n. It is commonly used as an additive to resins to improve processing and end use properties. Its good water, oil, solvent and chlorine resistance make PCL a common additive in speciality polyurethanes. PCL is degraded through hydrolysis of its ester linkages in physiological conditions such as in the human body and has a low melting point, 60ºC.
