Polyamide (Nylon)

Nylon is the generic name of aliphatic polyamides ( PA 6, PA 66) which was first produced by DuPont. PA 66 or Nylon 6,6 is a polymer made of hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid. In total there are 12 carbon atoms in each repeating unit (C12H22N2O2)n hence its name PA 66. Similarly PA 6 or nylon 6 has 6 carbon atoms in each repeating unit (C6H11NO)n. PA 6 and PA 66 have excellent strength and stiffness and good chemical and abrasion resistance.
